UFC 137 CONTESTS: Confidence Pick and Betting Game Results

UFC_137_poster_1_2.jpg
By Rich Hansen, MMA Torch Columnist:

My apologies for how long it took to get the results from the MMA Torch betting and Confidence Pick games posted here. I?ve been in denial since Saturday night. I just cannot wrap my head around the fact that it?s over. The greatest talent in UFC history ended Saturday night a humbled and broken man. That?s right. I lost to David Moxon, and Moxon is the new MMA Torch Confidence Pick game champion.

And to make matters worse, MMA Torch Columnist Matt Pelkey successfully defended his MMA Torch Betting game title (which he won from me at UFC 136) by sneaking past Erwin ?Skarz? Bouwman. The fact that Matt lost $331 doesn?t change the fact that he won, and I have no title anymore.

CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

Matt Pelkey: $669
$300 on Kongo for $669
$500 on Penn for $0
$100 on Roop for $0
$100 on Hieron for $0

Skarz: $498.76
$200 on Nelson for $275.76
$100 on Kongo for $223
$500 on Penn for $0
$200 parlay on Penn, Nelson, and Hioki for $100

Rich Hansen: 57/78 (missed on Penn for 9, Griffin for 5, Mitrione for 4, Downes for 2, and Jacoby for 1)
David Moxon: 64/78 (missed on Mitrione for 11, Camozzi for 2, and Jacoby for 1)

SETTING UP UFC 137 CONTESTS

Matt will be defending his now Betting Game title against Mike Jensen. Mike rode individual bets and a 3 fighter parlay on Kongo, Nelson, and Cerrone for a nice payout of $2408.80. His performance was more than $200 higher than runner-up Shaun Louis, who was the only other player to more than double his money.

As for new Confidence Pick game champion David Moxon, his first defense will come against veteran player Simon Kerry. Kerry scored a remarkable 69 points during Saturday night?s event, only missing on Griffin, Camozzi, and Mitrione for a combined 9 points.

Good luck to our champions and their challengers when they face off against each other during next weekend?s UFC on Fox event on November 12.

CONFIDENCE GAME RESULTS

36 people submitted entries for the UFC 136 Confidence Picks game. Here?s a rundown on how we all picked:

Askren 36, Hieron 0. That?s right; we were one bad decision from getting skunked. Hieron won that fight. And if he can defeat Lyman Good, Dan Hornbuckle, and Brian Foster, he might get a rematch in a year. That is, assuming Ben Askren can defeat Douglas Lima while Hieron is running his gauntlet.

Jorgensen 34, Curran 2
Cerrone 33, Siver 3
Vera 32, Marshall 4 (apparently breaking someone?s arm is only worthy of a 10-9. And yes, I know it?s not broken.)
Nelson 30, CroCop 6
Hioki 29, Roop 7
Griffin 29, Palaszewski 7. Oopsie.
Jacoby 28, Starks 8. Whoops.
Mitrione 26, Kongo 10. Swing and a miss.
Penn 26, Diaz 10. Yikes.
Camozzi 24, Carmont 12. Ouch
Nijem 22, Downes 14. Thus endeth the losing streak

Performer of the Night: Shaun Louis doubled his money, and finished third in with his confidence picks. In a night where the defending champions, challengers, and winners of each pool had inconsistent performances, Louis? all around performances stand out.

Goat of the Night: Jason Lyon didn?t hit on one bet, and he finished dead last in with his confidence picks. It was much easier to decide this one than the other one. Better luck next time, GOAT.
