Martin Kampmann and Rick Story are set to fight tonight in UFC 139, and Kampmann is about to show us that he is the better fighter.
Kampmann is a great fighter who is a great striker and has underrated grappling. While he does make some very stupid mistakes at times, I think he manages to go a full fight without making one tonight.
Kampmann is the superior striker, and on his feet he will be tough to beat. The only way Story can win is if he gets Kampmann on the ground, which is a very tough task.
Kampmann is one of the hardest fighters to take down, and I don't think Story can land a takedown tonight. The majority of the fight (if not all of it) will take place with both fighters standing, and that will greatly help Kampmann.
I firmly believe Kampmann will do what Thiago Alves, Johny Hendricks and Jake Ellenberger could not: knock out Story.
It is a very difficult task to knock out Story, but Kampmann's superior fighting tactics while standing will win him this fight.
As long as Kampmann doesn't make another stupid mistake he will win for sure. Unfortunately, Kampmann has made a habit of doing so.
In his fight with Jake Shields he had Shields beat. Shields couldn't fight him standing, but Kampmann went for a takedown. In his fight with Paul Daley he decided to stand and fight instead of going for the easy takedown when Daley left himself open.
Kampmann is not the smartest fighter, he is simply vicious. However, he does go fights without making mistakes, and he usually wins by knockout in those fights. I think another one happens tonight against Story.
