Friday was not a good day for UFC 149 ? or fighters named Thiago. Shortly after is was revealed a bad back forced Thiago Silva out of the July 21st event, MMAWeekly reports welterweight Thiago Alves (Pictured) will now have to bow out of the show with an undisclosed injury.
Alves was slated to face Siyar Bahadurzada inside Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The organization is currently scouring its roster for a suitable replacement.
Bahadurzada made quite the splash in his big league debut at ?UFC on FUEL TV 2? by putting Paulo Thiago to sleep in just 42 seconds. The ?Knockout of the Night? performance marked the welterweight?s seventh consecutive victory.
Alves was originally scheduled to face Yoshihiro Akiyama in the event, but ?Sexyama? withdrew with an injury. The ?Pitbull? was looking to rebound from a disappointing submission loss to Martin Kampmann.
