The UFC Heavyweight Championship rematch between Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez may not be coming this September as Dana White stated last week. According to one of dos Santos' coaches, Velasquez will be out of action longer than initially expected.

"The fight is with Velasquez, but no definite date," coach Yuri Carlton said in an interview with Tatame.com (translated by Fighter's Only). "It was speculated for September, but that is unreal. Velasquez is also with a broken hand, its not resolved, so I think the UFC will wait a little longer."

The September date was predicated on Velasquez being cleared for that quick of a return, but his hand may be worse than what they had hoped. He injured the hand in his first round decimation of Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva last month at UFC 146. If the bout is pushed back to November, the rematch will come around one year after their first bout, which dos Santos won by knockout in the UFC's debut on Fox.

Penick's Analysis: It's disappointing, but not unexpected that this fight is being moved back. Velasquez's hand was known to be possibly injured after the event, but they were hoping it wasn't bad enough to delay the rematch that long. Unfortunately, that appears to be the case. Still, the fight will happen, just a couple months later than they'd like.
