Dana White: Junior dos Santos Won?t Fight Frank Mir or Cain Velasquez at UFC 146

It appears fans can officially cross Frank Mir and Cain Velasquez off the list of potential replacements for testosterone-happy Alistair Overeem. When one of UFC president Dana White?s nearly two million Twitter followers begged him to keep the UFC 146 co-main event intact, White confirmed the top contender contest wasn?t going anywhere.
?Mir vs Cain will happen,? White responded.
Now that the show?s co-featured attraction is solidified, the championship question remains who will challenge Junior dos Santos for his freshly-minted crown now that Overeem?s status is in sever jeopardy?
Many believed Mir was the early front-runner to land the gig, but now that the former two-time title holder is unavailable, the most logical choice from a credentials and ranking standpoint might be Fabricio Werdum.
Werdum has won three of his last four fights, with his lone blemish during his current run coming against Overeem. An upset special over Fedor Emelianenko is also included in his streak.
The former Strikeforce heavyweight was rumored to meet Mike Russow at UFC 147. If he could find a way to be ready for the fight of his life one month earlier, it?s possible there could be some Brazilian-on-Brazilian crime going down on May 26th.
A possible dark horse to earn the nod is Mark Hunt. The veteran owns a mediocre 8-7 professional record, but it?s the baddest 8-7 mark known to mankind. The 38-year-old has managed to win three consecutive scraps inside the Octagon and fans have already begun the #RallyForMarkHunt movement on Twitter.
Hunt is slated to face Stephan Struve at UFC 146.
UFC 146 takes place May 26th inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
