Adrenaline Training Center, the home of the original Team Tompkins, is pleased to present the 1st Annual Shawn Tompkins Memorial Golf Tournament to be held on Sunday August 26th, at the FireRock Golf Club in Komoka, Ontario.
Come out and join Shawn's family, friends and MMA fans to celebrate and honor the life of the "COACH" Shawn Tompkins. There will be a number of UFC, Media and NHL personalities on hand including UFC fighter's Mark Hominick and Sam Stout and star Canadian fighter Chris Horodecki. More personalities will be confirmed at a later date.
Entry fee for the event is $125 per player (including HST) and includes 18-holes of golf w/cart, lunch, dinner and an opportunity to win some great prizes. The tournament will be played using the 18-hole Scramble/Best Ball format and various contests will be run throughout the day offering prizes as well.
All proceeds raised at the tournament will go towards the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Southwestern Ontario and the Shawn Tompkins Memorial Fund.
The tournament itself was spawned by an idea and suggestion from tournament director and long time Adrenaline follower Joe Botnick. I caught up with Joe on the phone today.
"It was born through a conversation with Chris Humphries last November where we were talking about Adrenaline and Hominick and the untimely passing of Shawn. I just kinda said, Hey, why don't we have a Shawn Tompkins memorial golf tournament? Off we went from there." Botnick said.
Botnick lives in London, Ontario—the home city of ATC and Team Tompkins—and Humphries is the agent for MMA Analyst and Sportsnet personality "Showdown" Joe Ferraro. The two are passionate about the sport and the people who have a positive influence on it, and want to give back and honor Tompkins.
"It's just a day to come out and have fun, celebrate the life and honor the man they called 'COACH'." Botnick said.
