Michael Bisping Addresses Alleged Training Camp Spies
?I?ve fought this type of guy many times. I know exactly how to beat him,? Bisping said on Monday?s edition ofInside MMA. ?Jason; I?m bigger, I?m stronger, I?m more athletic, I?m fitter, I?m better at wrestling, I?m better at kickboxing, jiu jitsu-wise, I reckon I match up well with him, as well.
?On paper, it?s not a good night for Jason Miller. And I?m better looking.?
In an attempt to mess with Bisping?s mind, Miller recently hinted he was receiving unrequested top secret information from members of Bisping?s team regarding the ins and outs of his training camp. The Britain quickly dispelled that chatter and suggested Miller?s insecurity was at the root of the bogus rumors.
?I know for a fact that none of them have been divulging secrets,? Bisping emphatically stated. ?I think this is a sign of Jason [being] a little bit nervous [about] the impending doom that?s coming his way this coming weekend and he?s trying to unsettle my camp.
?I think he?s looking at the [Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson] spygate thing and trying to jump on that bandwagon. Good luck, Jason, but better luck next time.?
The middleweight grudge match goes down Saturday inside the The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Spike TV broadcast begins live at 9PM ET/6PM PT.

ASK THE TORCH: Amadi answers reader questions on Fedor and the UFC, challengers to Junior dos Santos
A: The UFC vs. M-1 Global saga was fun for a while, but ultimately peaked two years ago. At this point, there isn't anywhere near the amount of public outcry for the UFC to sign Fedor Emelianenko.
For Fedor to ever step foot inside the UFC's Octagon, M-1 Global would have to be extremely realistic about what they bring to the table at this point. Recent tweets on their end suggest that we're pretty far from that ever happening.
The idea of the UFC co-promoting with M-1 Global to do a fight between Fedor and Cain Velasquez is patently absurd. Emelianenko's only win in the last two years is a pedestrian decision victory over a shopworn Jeff Monson, while Velasquez just lost the Heavyweight Title on the biggest stage the sport has ever seen in the U.S.
The reality is that Fedor going to Strikeforce was a huge risk that didn't work out for M-1. He went 1-3 in that organization and was humiliated in each of his three defeats. Those losses are still fresh in the minds of MMA fans, and despite what he's done in the sport, it would be weird for the UFC to sign a high profile fighter who's only one fight removed from an awful three fight skid.
With the purchase of Strikeforce, Zuffa now has every quality heavyweight fighter in the world under contract. Emelianenko can either end his career fighting guys like Jeff Monson or sign with the UFC on their terms. Negotiations are now and will forever be in the UFC's favor, and I don't think there's anywhere near enough interest on their side to sign Fedor and deal with M-1 Global.

James writes: Who in the division has a chance against Junior dos Santos? And if so, how?
A: Everyone has a chance, but I wouldn't favor anyone to defeat Junior dos Santos right now. His biggest threat is probably still Cain Velasquez, but even in a rematch, I'm not sure what changes. Velasquez would still need to take the fight into the later rounds, and dos Santos still has the power to stop him in 64 seconds.
Brock Lesnar could probably get dos Santos to the ground once or twice, but as soon as JDS starts uncorking hooks and uppercuts, Lesnar would probably just turn tail and run.
Many feel Alistair Overeem's K-1 credentials make him the fighter best equipped to handle ?Cigano,? but there's a couple problems with that line of thinking. The first problem is that ?K-1 level striking? is massively overrated as it relates to MMA.
As far as his K-1 World Heavyweight Grand Prix victory goes, a lot of things went right for Overeem to win. Remy Bonjasky (who's already beaten him) retired, Badr Hari (who's beaten him) didn't compete, Semmy Schilt was taken out by Peter Aerts and by the time Overeem fought Aerts and Gokhan Saki, they were already injured and exhausted from previous bouts.
However, I would mostly favor JDS because Overeem's style just doesn't match up well. In K-1, Overeem usually presses forward with a tight double-forearm guard, letting his opponents tee off before getting on the inside and clobbering them with a single left hook or a knee. With the 4oz gloves used in MMA, that wouldn't work out so well against a combination puncher with the power of Junior dos Santos. We've seen Overeem knocked out many times in MMA, and against smaller competitors to boot. I just don't see Overeem having much success, but the fight would be a lot of fun to watch either way.
Feel free to follow me on Twitter @JasonAmadi. Pretend I followed up with something clever here.

Bellator 59 Results: Eric Prindle gets kicked in the nuts by Thiago Santos (Video)
Props: The Underground
No way to finesse this one Maniacs, as Eric Prindle gets a straight soccer-kick to the yam bag at Bellator 59 on Nov. 26, 2011, at Caesar's Resort and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.
From Brian Hemminger's results and play-by-play:
Thiago Santos stands up and kicks Prindle between the legs. The ref puts a halt to the action and Prindle will have five minutes to recover. Huge bonehead move by Santos as that'll allow Prindle to get back to his feet, if he's capable of getting back to his feet. Five minutes have elapsed and the bell just rang because Prindle can't continue. Ughh, that's a huge disappointment.
Their heavyweight tournament final was ruled a "no contest" and according to Prindle's Twitter account, he was forced to seek additional medical attention after one of his testicles ballooned up to twice its normal size.
He's expected to make a full recovery.
Fighters We Wish Were Still in Their Primes
There comes a time in every MMA fan's life when they realize that their favorite fighter just is not the same anymore.
Despite getting knocked out multiple times, continuing to lose or just not having the same flair that they once had, many fighters continue to fight on as if they have something left to prove.
It's sad when we see guys like BJ Penn, Randy Couture and Mirko Cro Cop retire.
It's even sadder when we see fighters continue to fight on when they aren't what they used to be.
Here's a look at the fighters we wish were still in their primes.

Alistair Overeem wants the biggest fights in the UFC, starting with Brock Lesnar
"I didn't need to fight Lesnar," Overeem wrote in a blog at Yahoo! Sports. "When I signed for the UFC, Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta offered me the winner of the title fight between Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez. But I am a fighter. I don't want to sit on the sidelines, I want to fight."
"I think I have earned a UFC world title fight, by winning every major title outside the UFC, but I am here to prove that I am ? without question ? the best heavyweight on the planet. You don't do that sitting on the sidelines or working out in the gym, you do that by fighting and beating the best available opposition in the biggest fights that can be made."
"Myself vs. Lesnar is a huge fight and I jumped at the chance to fight him."
Many don't see Lesnar as a threat in the division anymore after a battle with diverticulitis and a less than ideal reaction to getting hit in his last several fights. But while Overeem himself is very confident in what he's going to do against Lesnar, he knows Lesnar is not to be taken lightly.
"But I don't underestimate this man," Overeem said. "Winning UFC belt from Randy Couture in his fourth pro MMA fight and defending it against Frank Mir and Shane Carwin was very impressive. I am also impressed by Lesnar's fighting spirit; he has twice come back from a very serious illness and fought very tough opposition right away."
"He obviously has a lot of confidence in himself in fighting me after more than a year out and surgery on his stomach, and I admire that about him, but I am even more confident in myself. I will knock this guy out. He is great at takedowns and controlling people on the ground, but I can stop his takedowns and he is no match for me on the feet."
"I am going to rip Brock Lesnar apart, piece by piece."
Penick's Analysis: Overeem wanting to stay active and taking what is, despite the thoughts of some people, a very tough challenge in Lesnar is admirable. When he could have gotten the immediate title shot, he's not taking an easy route with this fight, and even though he thinks he's going to "rip Lesnar apart," he's got a difficult fight here. Taking on that challenge and truly setting out to prove himself as the best is going to be the best way to introduce himself to the UFC audience.

Bellator 59 shuffles card due to Michael Costa Injury
Wand Fight Team product Michael Costa (10-5-1) has been forced out of his Bellator 59 match against Lyman Good (11-2) which was set to take place on Saturday.
Since Costa's withdrawal was made in such short notice, Bellator officials have elected to scratch the fight altogether. Now promoted to main card is a lightweight contest between Marcin Held (11-2) and "The Ultimate Fighter 8" finalist Phillipe Nover (5-3-1), who is making his Bellator debut.
Nover looks to earn his second win since being released from the UFC. "The Ultimate Fighter 8" finalist was bounced after losses to Robert Emerson, Kyle Bradley and Efrain Escudero.

PELKEY: Doling out some MMA thanks to Henderson-Shogun, Steven Seagal, Nick Diaz, and more
-I'm thankful for the Dan Henderson-Shogun fight. Like my colleague Rich Hansen, I'd begun to feel some MMA burnout in the last year or so. Covering the sport was starting to become tedious and feel strangely like...work. Watching that epic slugfest made me feel like a kid on Christmas morning again, only if my toys were all covered in blood, swelling, and overwhelming exhaustion.
-I'm thankful for Steven Seagal. Without him, we never would've seen the top two knockouts of the year. Don't try to convince me Anderson Silva or Lyoto Machida even knew what a front kick was before Seagal taught it to them. I pity Jon Jones for turning down an opportunity to train with such a master.
-I'm thankful for Nick Diaz's return to the UFC. We'd watched him toil away in Strikeforce versus relatively mediocre competition for long enough. In one (classic) fight with B.J. Penn, Diaz announced himself as officially one of the best welterweights in the world, and a legitimate challenger to Georges St. Pierre's throne. The best in-fight trash talker in the game might actually have a chance if he can get in the champ's head. He's off to a good start.
-I'm thankful for the broadcast team of Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan. They've been together so long and have been the voices of so many prominent memories for me. Whether it was Goldie schilling products or future programming over pertinent action inside the cage, or just his inane questions or comments that were messes Rogan was constantly forced to clean up, they'll always have a special place in my heart. Which leads me to...
-I'm thankful for the impending arrival of Jon Anik as the UFC's play-by-play voice on all non-pay per view shows. I love Joe Rogan's knowledge and enthusiasm, but he gets stretched thin in his duties by having to fill the roles of both pbp and color commentator. Mike Goldberg loves to talk about anything but the action going on inside the cage, which, you know, is the primary job of a play-by-play man. Anik will bring some professionalism into the booth and take a lot of pressure off of Rogan. I can't believe I'm actually day-dreaming about the possibilities of a new announce team.
-I'm thankful for Scott Coker and Mark Pavelich. The two delusional figureheads of rival promotions to the UFC (ok so MFC isn't a rival of the UFC. Damnit! Pavelich is brainwashing me!) provided easy jokes all year long, even after his promotion was swallowed up by the UFC in the case of Coker. These two were the comic relief of MMA this year.
-I'm thankful for the UFC in general. As we suffered through a work-stoppage in football and continue to do so in basketball (I'd be shocked if we see a single NBA game this year), there was one constant in sports: the UFC. They've given us 15 numbered events thus far (with two more before the year is out), several fight nights, and of course The Ultimate Fighter. They've been plagued by a horrendous number of injuries, especially in high-profile fights, but more often than not they filled in with a fight or fighter just as good, if not better. No other professional sports league displays the commitment to their fans that the UFC does. No, they're not perfect, and the pay-per-view model is too taxing and is clearly starting to wear on the wallets of fans, but they try damn hard to give their fans what they want, and a lot of it.
-I'm thankful for the staff and loyal readers of MMATorch. It's been a trying year for me personally (a little peek into my personal life: I became officially divorced on October 24, just a few months shy of what would've been my fifth anniversary), and I've kind of come and gone from the site at certain stretches this year. A special thanks to the staff (particularly Rich Hansen and our fearless leader Jamie Penick, along with the big boss Mr. Wade Keller) for being supportive and understanding, and, as I said, to the readers, especially the longtime ones who've been around for years. You guys are why we do what we do, and you've been just as integral a part of building this site over the years as the people doing the writing and reporting.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Now go kiss your family, tell them you love them, and then get fat and pass out watching football. It's the American thing to do.

Jose Aldo: Chad Mendes Doesn't Know What He's Getting Into
Promoted to the front page by Tim Burke.
A while back Chad Mendes posted a picture of himself wearing a Vasco jersey, rivals of Flamengo football club and Aldo’s team of heart, trying to get some support for his fight in Rio de Janeiro. Apparently this didn’t sit well with Aldo, who appeared upset when asked about it, saying Mendes doesn’t know what he’s dealing with:
The hype he’s creating is only for himself in this fight. He doesn’t even understand the rivalry between Vasco and Flamengo. This isn’t going to be a classic, this is going to be Brazil against the US. The fans from Vasco will be with me and the ones from Flamengo will be against him even more now. He doesn’t know what he’s getting into and will have to deal with the consequences once the fight starts

Two Sheds Review: Could UFC 139 Be the Best Show This Year?
It was a night that featured three battles between former champions as Dan Henderson faced Shogun Rua in the main event of UFC 139, shown live in the early hours of this past Sunday morning on ESPN here in Britain.
The broadcast began in the light heavyweight division, as Stephan Bonnar took on Kyle Kingsbury.
Bonnar is one of those balls-to-the-walls kind of fighters you can’t help but like. His never-say-die attitude has won over countless fans when he trades heavy blows with his opponents.
The Bonnar we saw here was a completely different animal. Although he managed to bloody Kingsbury’s nose and stagger him with a few good shots, it was on the ground that Bonnar dominated.
The American Psycho seemed able to take his opponent down at will, and once they were down there Kingsbury seemed unable to do anything against his man.
Bonnar worked extremely well as he transitioned from position to position, looking for various submission attempts. Sadly those attempts just weren’t viable, but he was able to make Kingsbury look quite ordinary.
So with the fight going the distance, it was down to the judges, and no surprises there as Bonnar took the unanimous decision. It was just a shame that those in attendance didn’t realise just how good his work was.
It was down to welterweight for the next fight as Martin Kampmann went up against Rick Story.
The second three-rounder of the show proved to be an entertaining affair. Both men began by swinging for the proverbial fences, both sustaining cuts over their right eyes.
As the action progressed, Kampmann began to impose his will on the fight, his more technical striking game causing problems with Story before the Dane took the fight to the ground.
This was more or less how the rest of the fight played out. There were some more brief stand-up battles, but when the fight went back down to the ground, Kampmann took control again, going for a rear naked choke as the fight came to an end.
So once again the judges came into play, and surprisingly they only gave the fight to Kampmann by split decision.
The first battle of former champions saw Urijah Faber taking on Brian Bowles in the bantamweight division.
This one promised much and delivered in spades.
Both guys looked good early on as they engaged in a striking battle, but when Faber scored with the takedown he took control, delivering some heavy blows while Bowles countered with a big up kick.
The end came in the second round. Faber staggered Bowles with an uppercut, and from there it was all over bar the shouting. Faber went to work with the ground and pound, and it wasn’t long before he locked in a guillotine for the impressive submission win.
The second battle of former champions saw Wanderlei Silva taking on the debuting Cung Le in the middleweight division.
This was the fight I was looking forward to the most. The opening round saw Le bring out the full array of kicks, looking like the action-move star he is, and although some of them connected it was actually a spinning left back fist that staggered Silva.
Silva soon began to get his distance, though, and as the fight moved into the second round he began to judge his punches more, causing more trouble for Le.
As the round neared its final minute Silva connected with a series of knees in the muay thai clinch that rocked Le. Silva went in for the kill as Le began to stagger, following him down and going for the ground and pound, with the referee stepping in to give Silva the TKO win.
The main event, the third and final battle of former champions, saw Shogun Rua facing Dan Henderson in the light heavyweight division.
When Dana White announced that certain non-title fights would be contested over five rounds, I have to admit that I didn’t think it was a good idea. This fight changed that decision.
For five rounds, two of the best in the world put on a tremendous back-and-forth battle, a war of attrition in which both men gave it their all.
Henderson looked great early on with his striking, putting Shogun on the back foot on more than one occasion and looking like he could take the win at any moment.
As time went on, Shogun’s face turned into a mess, and Henderson looked in top form, even though he just couldn’t put the Brazilian away.
As the old saying goes, they really were leaving everything in the cage, with both men looking exhausted as they came out for the final round, but with Shogun finding the energy to take Henderson down so he could control him on the ground.
After all of that, they still couldn’t finish the fight, as they left the decision up to the judges, with Henderson taking the close unanimous decision.
In conclusion: Long-time readers will know that I spend quite a few column inches telling you how enjoyable these UFC shows are. It’s not hyperbole, it’s the truth.
Well, UFC 139 may turn out to be the best show they’ve put on this year. From top to bottom, every fight delivered, with the final three fights going that extra step to make this show that much more special, and they left the best for last.
For me, the battle between Dan Henderson and Shogun Rua was not just the fight of the night but perhaps the fight of the year. It didn’t matter that there wasn’t a title on the line, and the UFC’s decision to put on non-title five rounders has now been justified.
So in all, UFC 139 gets the big thumbs up from this particular writer, and that’s all I can really say about that.
Don’t forget to check out my blog, as well as my Facebook page.

UFC 139 Results: Where Does UFC 139 Rank Among 2011's UFC Events?
By the time the year is over, the UFC will have put on 27 events. Over 10 of them have been free, with one more in the works before the end of 2011.
It's quite a jump from the amount that the UFC was able to put on even five years ago.
The hype and energy surrounding UFC 139 is at its peak right now, so it seems like the best event in a long time, but is it?
Looking back through the year, there have been some incredible fight cards.
UFC 125 had the incredible fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard that ended in a draw, with Brian Stann knocking Chris Leben out on the undercard.
UFC 126 saw Anderson Silva knock out Vitor Belfort with an incredible kick, and Forrest Griffin and Rich Franklin put on a great fight, with Jon Jones also submitting Ryan Bader.
UFC 132 saw Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz put on a great fight, with Leben knocking out Wanderlei Silva and Tito Ortiz crushing Ryan Bader and then submitting him.
There was even UFC 136, which saw Frankie Edgar come from behind to knock out Gray Maynard, Joe Lauzon submit Melvin Guillard after battering him around the cage, Chael Sonnen brilliantly locking on a triangle choke on Brian Stann, Leonard Garcia and Nam Phan put on a war and Jose Aldo pick apart Kenny Florian.
The list seems a bit short and it probably is. There could still be more events added to those that could be contender for event of the year.
However, UFC 139 had something that none of them did: It had the feeling of being a PRIDE, WEC and Strikeforce event. It was held in the same building that Strikeforce had long put its fights in, and it was topped with fighters from all three promotions.
It didn't feel like the standard UFC event, and it showed. It felt like there were new faces to watch and new matchups to experience.
It felt like a truly global event.
It also had a little bit of everything: come-from-behind victories, exciting finishes, technical wars and slugfests. It felt like there was something for every type of MMA fan out there.
It could be argued that UFC 139 was the second biggest event all year round. The first was a lock before it even happened.
Even with all of the great, history-making fights that were on the card tonight, the card still had one thing going against it that will put it at No. 2 this year.
It was on pay-per-view.
The UFC on Fox event was the first UFC event on network television, and in doing so, it instantly became the biggest event of the year. Almost every group of media was on it, and even the most casual of fans knew the fight was happening.
That is something that UFC 139 failed to do, even with all it brought to the table.
The fights themselves were some of the best all year and certainly were more exciting than Junior Dos Santos' 64 second demolition of Cain Velasquez.
But they didn't appear on free TV and captivate all of America.
So, even though it was close, much like the Henderson-Rua fight, one event had to win. And UFC 139 came in second. At least for now. There are still two more pay-per-views this year.
Who knows what might happen next.

UFC 139 results recap: A look back at the Dan Henderson vs Shogun Rua fight classic event
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has closed out another groundbreaking mixed martial arts (MMA) event, as UFC 139: "Shogun vs. Henderson" this past Saturday night (Nov. 19, 2011) brought the fans in attendance at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, some of the most exciting fights we've seen all year.
The main event, Mauricio Rua vs. Dan Henderson, left the MMA world ablaze and had some fans proclaiming it to one of the finest fights in the history of the sport.
We saw one fight that some complained was stopped too early. We also saw a fight (between Chris Weidman and Tom Lawlor) that clearly was not stopped soon enough.
UFC 139 was packed to the gills with legends fighting to survive, top prospects looking to rise to the next level and fights that will be replayed for years to come.
After the jump, MMAmania.com takes a look back on the highlights that made UFC 139 one of the best MMA events of all time:
Coming off the inaugural UFC on Fox 1 event, the hype machine was a little low on "fuel." For this reason, the main event of UFC 139 may have flown under the radar.
Dan Henderson and Mauricio Rua are MMA pioneers. They've done everything. They've fought everyone and everywhere. Yet, somehow, before Saturday night, the two had never faced each other.
All of that changed as "Hendo" and "Shogun" finally took to the Octagon together, giving fans a show that will forever live in the loving memories of all those who witnessed it.
Each fighter was sure they were winner. UFC President Dana White felt it should have been a draw. Ultimately, the judges' scorecard showed Henderson to be the winner by unanimous decision.
Read a full recap of the Mauricio Rua vs. Dan Henderson fight at UFC 139 here.
The close decision left many to speculate as to what the future will hold for both fighters. Afterwards, Dana White was non-committal on the matter, stating that he believes Henderson could contend for either the 185-pound or 205-pound titles, depending on which he preferred.
Neither fighter was able to attend the post-fight press conference, as they were both forced to visit the local hospital to have their wounds attended to.
Watch the full "Shogun vs. Henderson" post-fight press conference video here.
The co-main event saw two more MMA legends collide as Wanderlei Silva looked to rebound from a tough knockout loss at UFC 132 to Chris Leben. His opponent, Cung Le, was making his UFC debut, after taking almost a year and a half off from fighting to pursue acting opportunities.
The fight went almost entirely as scripted. Le used his renowned martial arts skills and fancy kicks to keep "The Axe Murderer" on his heels for much of the first round.
But you can't keep "Wandy" moving backwards forever.
In the second round, Silva began to stalk Le, unloading on him with flurries of vicious combinations. It was only a matter of time before Le's face was hardly distinguishable.
Silva was able to notch an impressive second round TKO victory and bought himself and his career a little more time.

World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) veterans Urijah Faber and Brian Bowles had it out in a number one contender eliminator match that saw "The California Kid" return to his form of old.
Bowles was simply no match for Faber and his arsenal of weapons as he fell prey to a guillotine choke in the second round that forced him to tap.
Faber will now move on to get the trilogy fight against current Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz that he has loudly been requesting.
For an in-depth summary of the "Urijah Faber vs. Brian Bowles" fight, click here.
In the bonus department, Dana White mixed things up a bit by doling out the "fight of the night" award to two fights instead of the usual one. "Mauricio Rua vs. Dan Henderson" and "Wanderlei Silva vs. Cung Le" received the prestigious honors.
the "Submission of the Night" bonus went to Urijah Faber. "Knockout of the Night" was awarded to Michael McDonald, whose quick KO of Alex Soto made a statement heard loud and clear all over the MMA community.
It doesn't have to end there. We want to hear your favorite fond memories from UFC 139.

UFC 139 Predictions: Martin Kampmann Will KO Rick Story
Martin Kampmann and Rick Story are set to fight tonight in UFC 139, and Kampmann is about to show us that he is the better fighter.
Kampmann is a great fighter who is a great striker and has underrated grappling. While he does make some very stupid mistakes at times, I think he manages to go a full fight without making one tonight.
Kampmann is the superior striker, and on his feet he will be tough to beat. The only way Story can win is if he gets Kampmann on the ground, which is a very tough task.
Kampmann is one of the hardest fighters to take down, and I don't think Story can land a takedown tonight. The majority of the fight (if not all of it) will take place with both fighters standing, and that will greatly help Kampmann.
I firmly believe Kampmann will do what Thiago Alves, Johny Hendricks and Jake Ellenberger could not: knock out Story.
It is a very difficult task to knock out Story, but Kampmann's superior fighting tactics while standing will win him this fight.
As long as Kampmann doesn't make another stupid mistake he will win for sure. Unfortunately, Kampmann has made a habit of doing so.
In his fight with Jake Shields he had Shields beat. Shields couldn't fight him standing, but Kampmann went for a takedown. In his fight with Paul Daley he decided to stand and fight instead of going for the easy takedown when Daley left himself open.
Kampmann is not the smartest fighter, he is simply vicious. However, he does go fights without making mistakes, and he usually wins by knockout in those fights. I think another one happens tonight against Story.

Roy Nelson and Cheick Kongo not slated for UFC 143 on Super Bowl weekend afterall [UPDATED]
Both fighters picked up victories at UFC 137 last month, with Nelson finishing Mirko Cro Cop in the third round, and Kongo defeating Mitrione by decision.
For Nelson, the win was a bounce back from a disappointing performance against Frank Mir in his second straight loss, while Kongo made it two straight wins after a June knockout of Pat Barry.
UFC 143 is the UFC's Super Bowl weekend show, and will be headlined by a UFC Welterweight Championship bout between Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz.
UPDATE: Though the report of this fight came courtesy of Roy Nelson's Twitter, the UFC has now refuted the news. The UFC's official Twitter posted the following:
"FYI we've got Kongo's next bout and this isn't it."
So that's that for now.

Featherweights Nam Phan and Jim Hettes set for UFC 141 bout in December
Phan picked up his first UFC win at UFC 136 last month, avenging the awful decision loss to Leonard Garcia he suffered at the Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale last December - a fight that most felt he won despite the scorecards.
Hettes will look to keep his undefeated record intact after an impressive UFC debut in August. Entering with an 8-0 record, Hettes submitted Alex "Bruce Leroy" Caceres at UFC on Versus 5 in the second round.
UFC 141 is headlined by a heavyweight number one contender fight between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem.

UFC 144 fight card: Joe Lauzon vs Anthony Pettis confirmed for Japan on Feb. 26
The lightweight battle between Joe Lauzon vs. Anthony Pettis will go down at UFC 144, which takes place on Feb. 26, 2012, in Japan's Saitama Super Arena, and not at UFC 143 on SuperBowl weekend as previously reported.
MMAFighting.com today confirmed the booking with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) officials.
Using Lauzon to spruce up the promotion's return to the "Land of the Rising Sun" is a bright idea. In 11 career fights inside the Octagon, "J-Lau" has walked away with nine bonus awards. Even his three UFC losses have been cushioned by "Fight of the Night" bonuses.
He's got a great opponent tailor-made to bring home bonus number 10.
Pettis came to the UFC with a ton of hype, a World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) lightweight championship belt and a guaranteed title shot in hand. Then he got pushed out of the way thanks to Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard dueling to a draw, then losing a hard fought decision in his Octagon debut against Clay Guida.
An even closer decision followed against Jeremy Stephens at UFC 136, only this time "Showtime" emerged with his hand raised. And for his efforts, he's getting a shot against one of the most seasoned veterans of the lightweight division.
UFC 144 is expected to be headlined by a 155-pound title fight featuring Ben Henderson, fresh off his unanimous decision win over Clay Guida, taking on reigning lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. In addition, Jake Shields returns to action against Yoshihiro Akiyama, while Yushin Okami battled Tim Boetsch in a manly middleweight match up.

"I learned that the UFC makes the most money on pay-per-view when I am fighting. That made me smile. For me, a fight is [worth] $4 to $5 million, and in the city where the UFC holds its events, there are economic benefits of between $15 to $20 million. It's huge!"

Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos: Who Does the UFC Want to Win?
The UFC on Fox features only one fight, a heavyweight title clash between champion Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos, but it may be the most important fight in UFC history.
Even more so than just bringing the UFC and MMA to a diverse range of fans, the fight is likely to make a superstar be born overnight.
The amount of media attention and coverage of the event has been more than any fan can remember. There literally hasn't been one day within the past month that went by without a story related to the UFC on Fox event.
Both Velasquez and Dos Santos are viewed as great fighters but not necessarily the best draw. If you ask the casual fan about who Velasquez is, they will likely tell you he is the guy who beat Brock Lesnar.
Likewise, Dos Santos is known to casual MMA fans as the other coach along with Lesnar on The Ultimate Fighter.
Although both men remain relative unknowns to casual fans and non-fans, that all is likely to change after their historic fight.
That begs the question, who does the UFC want to win more?
Dana White may be one of the biggest fans of MMA, but he's also a shrewd businessman. This fight will give the UFC a very popular champion.
The challenger, Dos Santos, comes from Brazil and from a well-respected camp. Training with such fighters as Anderson Silva, the Nogueira brothers and Lyoto Machida, among others, provides Dos Santos with elite-level training partners.
Dos Santos is one of the nicest guys in MMA and always has a smile on his face. If you've seen any of the behind-the-scenes videos or clips of him from the countdown show, you've likely seen him laughing with teammates.
"Cigano" isn't going to do anything negative that would impact the UFC's public perception, and he is a "safe" champion in PR terms.
He also possesses an exciting fighting style that features some of the best boxing MMA has ever seen. Dos Santos always looks for the knockout and puts everything behind his punches while still maintaining excellent technique.
Velasquez also has one of the more exciting styles in MMA. His wrestling background is well known, but he also uses punches and kicks. His ability to grapple and strike gives Velasquez one of the most complete games in MMA.
The champion also is considered one of the nicer guys in MMA and has been about as soft-spoken of a champion as possible. Velasquez had plenty of opportunities to respond to Lesnar's pre-fight talk and simply replied with the standard, "I'm training hard" response.
Velasquez comes from one of the best camps in America, American Kickboxing Academy, but Dana White has had problems with the gym in the past. White's issues with Josh Koscheck, Mike Swick and Jon Fitch are all well documented.
Although that situation isn't likely to repeat itself with Velasquez, the possibility exists. Daniel Cormier, a teammate of Velasquez's, may soon be joining the UFC heavyweights and could be a few fights from a title fight.
Perhaps the most logical way of looking at who the UFC stands to gain the most from winning is demographics.
Dos Santos hails from Brazil, which has historically been a very rich community for MMA and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Unless White goes on a Chael Sonnen-ish tirade against Brazil, they will always be fanatical for MMA and the UFC.
Velasquez brings a relatively unknown demographic into MMA. The Mexican community hasn't had a true star to follow like they have had in boxing. Velasquez could be their star in waiting.
When Velasquez was challenging for the title, the UFC ran promo after promo citing Velasquez's quest to become the first Mexican champion. The UFC clearly wants to tap into the Latino market.
I don't mean to incite any racial issues because that's not what this is about. As the saying goes, "It's just good business."

Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II Is the Perfect Main Event for UFC on FOX 2
With the UFC making its jump to network television this weekend, the entire MMA world is eagerly anticipating the heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos.
With so much hype surrounding the main event, it almost feels like the UFC is at a standstill, but behind the scenes the ZUFFA machine is still moving along and they have got to be close to working on the next main event to air on FOX.
With the UFC set to have four fights on network TV next year, it seems obvious that they would do one in each quarter, and the earlier they capitalize on what is sure to be a huge event this weekend, the better.
Ideally, the next Fox event would take place in early March 2012, which leaves the UFC with two big fights that it could promote for the card.
The first is a light heavyweight battle between Jon Jones and Rashad Evans, which would be great, except that this scenario would depend on Jones defending his UFC title against Lyoto Machida at UFC 140.
The second is the most anticipated fight of 2012, Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II.
Putting Silva vs. Sonnen on FOX makes sense on so many levels, and the fact that it would be for the UFC middleweight title only strengthens the argument.
Over the past five years, no fighter has come close to dominating the sport like Anderson Silva has, taking out every fighter he has ever fought with relative ease.
The only fighter to have come close to defeating him was Sonnen.
Sonnen dominated the first fight against Silva for 23 minutes of the scheduled 25-minute fight, before “The Spider” miraculously pulled off a fight-ending triangle choke to save his championship.
While many fans have sworn that this fight just added to the legacy of the greatest fighter ever to live, Sonnen supporters (and Sonnen himself) have repeatedly stated that the win was a fluke.
Sonnen’s insistence that Anderson got lucky is really what makes this fight so interesting.
No one in MMA can hold a candle to the verbal beatings that Sonnen dishes out every time a microphone is put in front of his face, and his constant barrage of insults towards the champion has made the upcoming fight even more interesting than the first.
While an argument could be made that the UFC should save this fight for PPV, it really doesn’t make sense.
Silva has never been a huge draw as far as PPV numbers are concerned, and outside of true MMA fans, the general public hasn’t even heard of Chael Sonnen, so why not throw the best fighter in the sport up against the best talker in the sport for the world to see.
As good as FOX has been at promoting the Velasquez-Dos Santos fight, neither fighter exactly oozes charisma the way that Sonnen does.
If the UFC can convince him to tone it down just a little, he can do as much promoting with his mouth as FOX can with its commercials.
To throw any other fight on FOX early next year would be the wrong business move for the UFC, and Dana White and company are some of the best businessmen in sports.
With that said, fans shouldn’t ask, they should beg Dana White to put the rematch for the middleweight title on FOX.
The UFC always says they give fans the fights they want to see, and by putting Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II on network TV, they would give more fans a chance to do just that.
